Aline B. Saarinen

Aline Bernstein Saarinen (March 25, 1914 – July 13, 1972) was a well-known critic of art and architecture in the United States, an author and a television journalist.
==Birth and education==
Aline Bernstein was born on March 25, 1914 in New York City, the daughter of Irma (Lewyn) and Allen Milton Bernstein, both of German Jewish descent.〔http://jwa.org/encyclopedia/article/saarinen-aline-bernstein〕〔http://www.encyclopedia.com/article-1G2-2591308157/saarinen-aline-19141972.html〕 Her father was the head of an investment firm and an amateur painter. Her mother also painted, and she was encouraged to take an interest in the arts. She graduated in 1931 from the Ethical Culture Fieldston School in Riverdale, the Bronx, New York, then went to Vassar College where she studied art and developed an interest in journalism. She graduated in 1935 with an A.B. degree.〔
